Crochet Cables

This technique creates cables using the simplest crochet stitch – the single crochet – along with its variations: foundation single crochet and extended single crochet.

Each cable is worked sideways and consists of twisted, interlocking waves. To achieve this effect, the yarn is carried through the arches of the waves as you progress; it naturally unravels on the way back when working the next row in the opposite direction, so there’s no need to cut the yarn.

There are two ways to twist the cable’s waves and single cables with a different twists form larger cables, which are twice as wide and have a more complex look.

Biscolata
€8.00

The name Biscolata is inspired by two Italian words: biscotto, meaning biscuit or cookie, and latte al cioccolato, meaning milk chocolate.

This pattern features my signature crochet cable technique - simple yet striking. It uses only the most basic stitches - variations of single crochet and chains - to create richly textured, beautifully interwoven cables.

Biscolata alternates two colors, showcasing different stitch patterns: the beautiful swirls of crochet cables and the bold, textured diamonds, alternated with the single crochet ribbing ridges.

The Leeward Hat is a perfect companion to the Leeward Mitts, featuring my crochet cable technique. Simple stitches - single crochet and its variations (esc, fsc) - form a beautiful cable design, accented by ribbing ridges for added texture.

It’s recommended to start with the mitts first to familiarize yourself with the technique, as the hat introduces a more complex variation of the cables combined with short rows.
