Faded Leaf

€8.00

Faded Leaf is a two-skein shawl, worked from the center of the top edge down in a comfortable boomerang shape. It’s the third design in the Leaf shawl series, my ongoing exploration of crochet textures based on the linen (moss) stitch, modified in unusual ways to create rich and refined fabric.

This design explores colorwork: worked in two shades, Faded Leaf creates a mesmerizing effect where one shade pops and the other gently fades into the background…

You might also enjoy Linen Leaf, with its striking textured lines, and Mint Leaf, an airy and delicate variation featuring eyelets.

★ The pattern has been professionally tech edited.
★ Language: English (US crochet terms)

MATERIALS

  • Malabrigo Sock; light fingering / 3 ply; 440 yd (402 m) per 100 g skein; 100% merino wool

  • Hook: U.S. E (3.5 mm)

  • Yarn needle to weave in ends

YARDAGE

1 skein each in 036 Pearl (MC) and 811 Eggplant (CC)

GAUGE FOR SWATCH

24 sts (sc and chs) and 24 rows = 4″ (10 cm) worked in linen st patt only. An exact gauge is not crucial for this design.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS

  1. Wingspan: 57½″ / 146 cm

  2. Actual width of each wing: 31″ / 79 cm

  3. Depth: 18½″ / 47 cm

The shawl is designed as a perfect two-skein project — one skein per color for the colorwork — but it can also be worked in a single shade to highlight the texture, or in several colors for even more colorplay.

The measurements above are provided as a guideline. You can easily make the shawl larger by working additional row-PRs.
