My mom taught me how to knit these slippers, and over the years, even after I switched entirely to crochet, they remained my most cherished knitting project and the only one I return to every winter. I have made hundreds of them, adapting my mom's method along the way, and this is my version of it.

These slippers grow as you knit, naturally taking shape to your desired size. You can use any yarn weight and gauge. The only thing you need to determine before you start is the ankle circumference, whether you are making tiny booties for a baby or slippers for a grown-up.

The slippers are knitted in one piece from the top down using one pair of circular needles. They are worked in garter stitch, with two colors creating the stripes.

First, you knit from the ankle down to the desired length, then continue with the sole, working from the toes toward the heel, with a little shaping at the heel to round it off. Finally, the two sides are joined along the back of the heel.

The pattern includes instructions for several sizes, divided into three categories: Adults, Youth, and Toddlers. Choose the best size or use the Slippers Formula, which is suitable for any foot size and any yarn weight.
