Aquarelle is all about the gentle blending of stitches and colors. It was designed specifically for complex multicolor yarns, giving the colors enough space to show themselves without becoming too busy.
The diamond shapes and the single crochet ridges separate and organize the colors into little color areas, creating a different multicolor palette within each diamond and a flowing wave of color along each ridge. I treated the skeins like paints, without overthinking my color choices and letting them create their own magic. ◍•ᴗ•◍
The pattern includes instructions for both:
working in the round (for a cowl)
and working in flat rows (for any rectangular project).
It also includes a few colorwork templates with sample color combinations, plus blank layouts for trying out your own colorwork ideas.

The measurements listed above are only guidelines and you can make your cowl smaller or larger by working fewer or more stitches or row-PRs. Note that in this case, your yardage requirements and finished dimensions will change.
STITCH PATTERN
The stitch pattern uses basic crochet stitches: single crochet stitches are worked in the back loop to form ribbed ridges, and stitches of varying height (sc, hdc, dc, etc.) for the diamond-shaped inserts.
I create new crochet stitches to show a quieter, softer side of crochet: calm, simple, and casual. My patterns may look unusual at first only because the technique is new to you, just like your first chain or single crochet once was. After a little practice, it feels easy and natural.
