Creative Crochet: Giving Two Shawls a New Life as One Wrap
Sometimes a new crochet idea appears not while designing a pattern, but while looking at something that is already finished!
I made two samples of the Make a Wish shawl for its release. I loved wearing them together, but one day I placed them on the floor and looked at them from a different angle. I suddenly thought: what if these two shawls became one large wrap?
I frogged two edging rows from the yellow sample and worked one new row, joining it (as-you-go) to the wingspan of the grey sample.
The result was a trapezoid-shaped wrap. It is very comfortable to wear, and all parts of the shawls are visible at the same time: both the solid sections and the colorwork sections.
The Make a Wish shawl is reversible, with a floral colorwork side and a striped side. Here it is with both sides showing. ↑

Finished crochet projects do not always have to stay exactly as they were originally made. ◍•ᴗ•◍ Crochet fabric is flexible and can often be reshaped, joined, extended, or combined with other pieces. Sometimes a project that is already finished can become the starting point for something new.
I loved this idea so much that it changed the way I think about my future shawl designs.
Now, when planning a new project, I also consider whether it could be joined with another sample later. I choose colors with this possibility in mind, creating pieces that can work beautifully on their own but can also become part of a larger wrap.
It is also a wonderful way to give new life to my existing samples. I hope to show you my new wrap out of two Soda shawl samples soon!
