The Escape shawl pattern has become fuller! I’ve added additional instructions and a chart for a rectangular version.

You are very welcome to use it for a scarf, blanket, or anything rectangular you would like to make!

I made two triangular Escape shawls in the past.

One was worked in a single color, using three skeins of Malabrigo Sock in the shade Indonesia. I was so curious how such a complex color would look in this stitch pattern!

The second one was made with an even more complex combination: a variegated yarn together with a speckled one. I alternated the colors every two rows, which allowed me to use both skeins equally.

This design changes a lot after blocking. It may feel dense at first, but after blocking, when all stitches settle into place, the ribbing lines relax and the circle elements open up.

You can absolutely work your Escape with relaxed hands and looser stitches. Everything becomes neat and beautiful in the end.

There were days when I thought shawls should be worn with elegant coats or romantic dresses ◍⁠•⁠ᴗ⁠•⁠◍

I worked hard on my design photos to present them this way, but never wore the shawls in real life, simply because I am in sneakers and hoodies all the time.

And look at me now. Short-sleeved hoodies and pajama pants… with shawls. :D I wish I could tell my past self: Enjoy your shawls, please!
