It is spring here in Italy in full, and for me it’s always the time to refresh: dusting, packing things away, and breathing with a full chest. Very soon my balcony will turn green again! I feel very alive when I do all of this.  ◍⁠•⁠ᴗ⁠•⁠◍

I am also working on some long-term projects, and I have finally finished the Pressed Violets shawl, my oldest WIP, which I started in January 2025.

It is worked in one strand of Malabrigo Mohair and turned out super soft and airy, absolutely dreamy! But the progress felt very slow.

Not technically (in fact, most of it was done in just one month) but because there was always something quicker and easier to work on.

At the same time, I’ve been working on the Replay scarves, also using mohair (with an added lace-weight Malabrigo Silkpaca strand), and the experience was completely different.

What felt slow and heavy in Pressed Violets became smooth and easy with the new stitches. They just feel made for these complex yarns.

That was new knowledge for me. There is no need to struggle with classic stitches if there is something new that allows you to work with this kind of yarn with such ease and joy.

And I ended up buying another bunch of mohair. :D

For another set of scarves, in a different stitch pattern, but with the same light feeling while working.

SCARF VERSIONS

I’ve also been asked which of my shawl patterns can be used for scarves or stoles, and here they are.

Some of them (like Pressed Violets and Porcelain Berry) include exact instructions for a scarf. Others provide a swatch and stitch pattern repeat, which you can use to create a rectangular piece by working to your preferred size.

And the colorwork section of the Make a Wish shawl is worked straight, so you can omit the decrease section and the remaining shawl instructions and turn it into a floral stole.
